Patients bring us two kinds of problems: Those caused by germs and their waste products and those caused by a lack of harmony in function between the jaw joints and the teeth. We have been successful in treating both. The philosophy that allows us to be so successful in removing painful and unsightly symptoms in our patients is Bioesthetics. Learn more about our philosophy by visiting the Bioesthetics page. Everyone who comes to us is viewed through this lens as we examine them for present or future problems.
The surest way of returning a mouth to healthy function consists of these EIGHT steps:
- A thorough exam with sound diagnosis and treatment planning
- Excellent patient education
- Establishing and maintaining healthy gums
- Restoring teeth to be free of decay
- Stabilizing the jaw joints
- Restoring the front teeth to Bioesthetic function
- Restoring the back teeth to natural physiologic function
- Regular post-treatment maintenance
Our goal is to educate every patient so that they can have lifelong control over their health and smile. Each of our procedures, techniques and materials is state-of-the-art.
Here is a list of what we do to make sure your mouth is healthy now and into the future:
Periodontal Maintenance - Your gums keep your teeth stable so that they function as they should. Poor gum health can lead to heart disease and other problems in the body. When maintained properly, the teeth will last for years.
Even stars suffer the effects of neglected gums. This is a video of Whoopi Goldberg describing her experiences with periodontal disease on her talkshow, "The View".
Root Canals - We often save infected teeth by performing a root canal to stop the tooth ache and remove the dead and infected pulp tissue inside the tooth. Years ago this was a painful procedure, but today it is as comfortable as having a filling done.
Fillings - We use bonded composites as filling materials. They have the advantage of helping to make the teeth stronger than the old silver material and also do not contain mercury. Even better, they are tooth colored!
Crowns - We use crowns when there has been a loss of half or more of the original tooth structure, the tooth is cracked or it has had a root canal. Crowns are also used when necessary to provide optimum form and esthetics.
Implants - Implants are useful in a variety of ways to replace one or several teeth. Other options for replacing missing teeth are bridges and dentures.
Veneers - These are used more for cosmetic reasons. They are helpful when the look of an otherwise healthy tooth needs to be improved. They can be made of porcelain or composite.
Tooth Whitening - We offer the ZOOM whitening procedure as seen on Extreme Makeover.
